How I Keep God at the Center of My Everyday Life

Keeping God at the center of my life isn’t something I only think about when I have time.

It’s the center of how I want to live.

I don’t always get everything right. I have days when I’m overwhelmed, distracted, tired, frustrated, or simply trying to keep up with everything happening around me…

But through every season, my relationship with God has become the place I come back to.

If I’m going to build a space like TheGabilyz around sharing my real life, then leaving God out of that story wouldn’t actually be sharing my real life.

Because He is part of all of it.

Keeping God at the center of my life through Bible study

My Faith Has Become Part of My Everyday Life

There was a time when faith felt like something that had its own separate place.

You went to church. You prayed. You read your Bible.

But the more I’ve grown in my relationship with Christ, the more I’ve realized that I don’t want my faith confined to certain moments of my week.

I want God involved in my marriage.

I want Him involved in the way I raise my children.

I want Him involved in the decisions I make for my businesses.

I want Him involved when I’m creating content.

I want Him involved when I’m making plans for my future.

And I want Him there in the completely ordinary moments too.

Keeping God at the center of my everyday life doesn’t mean every moment is some huge spiritual experience. A lot of the time, it simply means intentionally remembering who I’m living for while I’m doing the everyday things He’s entrusted me with.

My Mornings Start With Bible Study With My Husband

One of the most meaningful parts of my routine happens before most of our day has even started.

My husband and I study the Bible together every morning before he leaves for work.

And I genuinely love that this has become part of our marriage.

Life gets busy. There are children who need us, responsibilities waiting, work to do, appointments, homeschooling, content, bills, errands—and everything else that comes with building a life together.

Starting our day in God’s Word gives us a chance to put Him first before all of that starts competing for our attention.

It’s not about having some picture-perfect morning routine.

It’s about making room for something we’ve decided matters.

The Bible That Helped Me Understand What I Was Reading

My favorite Bible is my NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible.

I love it for the beautiful pages and the creative element, of course, but NIV also became important to me because it helped me better understand what I was reading.

I’ve owned and read other translations, including ESV, KJV, and CSB, and I appreciate them for different reasons.

CSB actually holds a special place for me because that’s the translation I was using when I initially started Bible study. I still think it’s a wonderful translation for studying Scripture.

Over time, though, NIV became the version I found myself reaching for most often.

And I think finding a Bible you genuinely enjoy opening matters.

Not because the cover is pretty or because it’s trendy, but because ultimately the goal is to read it.

To learn.

To understand.

And most importantly, to grow closer to God through His Word.

Finding Community Changed So Much for Me

Another huge part of my faith journey has been community.

I’ve been part of Bible Besties since day one, and it’s now been two years.

Our founder and mentor, Heaven, has created something incredibly special—a community filled with women who genuinely love God and want to grow in their relationship with Him.

We have Bible study every Monday, but the community has become so much more than just a weekly class.

There are activities.

There are yearly retreats.

There is fellowship.

There are women supporting and encouraging one another.

And there are moments that have become part of my own testimony.

I Was Baptized at Our First Retreat

Last summer, at the very first Bible Besties retreat, I was baptized.

Even writing that brings back so many emotions.

Baptism was a deeply personal decision for me and an outward expression of something that had already been happening within my heart.

My faith wasn’t simply something I believed anymore.

I wanted my life to reflect it.

And getting baptized surrounded by women who had been walking alongside me in my faith journey made that moment even more meaningful.

It’s a memory I know I’ll carry with me forever.

Faith Has Changed the Way I Look at My Roles

Keeping God at the center of my life has changed the way I think about all of these roles.

I want to be a good mother.

I want to be a good wife.

I want to be intentional about the businesses I’m building.

I want to treat people well.

I want to make decisions I’m proud of.

I want the things I’m creating to align with who I believe God is calling me to become.

That doesn’t mean I always get those things right.

Absolutely not. 😂

But faith gives me something to return to when I don’t.

It gives me direction when I feel uncertain and reminds me that success isn’t the only measurement that matters.

How I get there matters too.

Teaching Our Children About God Matters to Us

As my husband and I have grown in our faith, we’ve also been intentional about making God part of our children’s lives.

They’re learning about Christ.

They’re learning Scripture.

They’re seeing their parents study the Bible together.

And they’re growing up in a home where conversations about God aren’t reserved only for Sunday.

That matters deeply to me.

I know that eventually our children will grow up and have their own relationship with God. I can’t build that relationship for them.

But I can make sure they grow up knowing who He is.

Church Looks a Little Different for Us

Every Sunday, we watch our church service online.

Our church is in Florida, so physically walking into the building every Sunday isn’t exactly an option. 😂

But distance hasn’t stopped us from staying connected.

We tune in from home, worship, listen to the message, and continue making church part of our weekly rhythm.

I think that’s another thing I’ve learned throughout my faith journey:

Connection with God isn’t dependent on being inside a particular building.

There is something incredibly special about gathering with other believers, and I value that community deeply. But God is also present in our home.

He’s present during morning Bible study at the table.

He’s present when we’re praying.

He’s present when we’re watching service from the living room.

He’s present in the ordinary.

Following Christ Has Also Meant Letting Things Go

I don’t think it would be honest to talk about keeping God at the center of my life without talking about sacrifice.

Following Christ has changed some of the things I’m comfortable participating in.

There are things from the world that I’ve had to let go of.

There are things I’ve had to reconsider.

There are times when I’ve had to ask myself whether something fits the life I’m trying to live and the woman I’m trying to become.

And sometimes the answer has been no.

That isn’t always easy.

But I’ve also learned that I’m not making those changes alone.

Christ guides me through them.

My relationship with Him has made me want to live differently—not because I’m trying to create an image of perfection, but because my priorities have genuinely changed.

I Don’t Want to Hide This Part of Who I Am

I’ve never wanted TheGabilyz to become a place where I present some polished version of my life.

I want to talk about motherhood.

Beauty.

Skincare.

Working from home.

Content creation.

Organization.

The things I’m learning.

The things I’m figuring out.

And yes, sometimes the things I’m struggling with.

But faith belongs in those conversations too.

Because when I’m overwhelmed, I pray.

When I’m grateful, I thank God.

When I’m unsure about something, I seek His direction.

When something incredible happens in my life, He’s the first One I give the glory to.

So I’m not going to hide that part of myself because it might not fit neatly into a traditional lifestyle-blog category.

It is my lifestyle.

Keeping God at the Center Doesn’t Mean Doing It Perfectly

I think this is probably the most important thing I could say.

I am still learning.

I’m still growing.

There are days when I could pray more.

Days when I could spend more time in Scripture.

Days when I get distracted by everything happening around me.

Days when my patience isn’t what it should be.

Days when I have to stop and remind myself to give something to God instead of trying to carry it myself.

Keeping God at the center of my everyday life doesn’t mean I’m doing everything perfectly.

It means I keep returning to Him.

Again and again.

Through motherhood.

Through marriage.

Through business.

Through uncertainty.

Through blessings.

Through ordinary Tuesdays when nothing particularly exciting is happening.

Through all of it.

My faith isn’t just one part of my life.

Having God at the center of my life doesn’t mean I’m doing everything perfectly. It means I keep returning to Him.

It’s the foundation I’m trying to build everything else on. 💚
