Managing a household, kids, work and just life, things can get quite chaotic and we can definitely forget to fill our own cups while pouring into others.
Self-care shouldn’t be deemed a luxury. It doesn’t have to require constant spa weekends or expensive afternoons out. It’s all about intentional choices made by you for you.
So where do you start? Here are 5 way you can jumpstart your simple but efficient self-care moments:

Sleep and rest. Not only do we need sleep/rest for our physical wellbeing, it is such a great way to calm our minds and recharge in manner that doesn’t require much. Fun fact: even 15 minutes of just lying still with your eyes closed has been proven effective. Try it!

Move your body! Yes, you read that right, move your body. But, these movements need to be with the intention to call yourself. A slow spaced walk, a little restorative yoga (my personal favorite). I am a total beginner and am learning to really connect with my mind and body to nail the poses. I love using tools and anything that can help me do so. I get everything I need on Amazon, you can check them out here, https://amzn.to/4uaHarN Take deep breaths and focus on slow healing.

Now this one is even hard for me but proper nourishment. Believe it or not, what you eat truly does impact how you feel in all aspects. No one is perfect and we all love to indulge in the “junk” once in a while but making sure you are properly nourishing your body is key. Eat all meals and keep hydrated. Here’s the challenging part, actually SIT DOWN and eat your meal. Put the distractions aside and truly sit and enjoy your meal, you’ll be surprised how satisfying and relaxing it can be.

Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries! Yes, we all need to set these, even us moms. Setting boundaries not only allows how much we pour into other things but it always allows us to make sure we prioritize ourselves. So, it doesn’t have to be difficult, setting one boundary at a time is key. Once you feel like you’ve gotten one set successfully, move on to the next.

Following the previous tip, connecting with yourself on a restorative level can totally make a difference. Journal, sitting in silence or even declining invitations to things you don’t want to participate in can feel great and empowering. You’ll even start learning things about yourself that you’ve probably overlooked. I absolutely love journaling because it allows me to look back and see how much I have come along and what I still need to work on. Remember, self-care is not selfish. In fact, it is how you show up for yourself and others. You don’t have to have a set plan, you don’t have to complete all 5 steps, just start exactly where you are and do what feels right.
Come back and let me know how you are doing in the comments, let’s start a conversation and maybe we can help each other! Happy Self-caring!
Gaby 🙂
